Narita International Airport is Japan's main international gateway, serving Tokyo and the surrounding Kanto region. Opened in 1978, the airport is located in Narita, Chiba Prefecture, roughly 60–70 km east of central Tokyo, and handles a large share of the country's international flights together with selected domestic services.
Passenger operations are spread across three terminals. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 manage most full-service international and domestic flights, while Terminal 3 is used primarily by low-cost carriers; free shuttle buses and a walkway connect the terminal areas.
The airport is linked to Tokyo by the JR Narita Express and Keisei Skyliner rail services, as well as airport limousine buses, taxis, private transfers, car rental and road connections.
