About Nairobi Wilson Airport
Wilson Airport is Nairobi's main gateway for domestic, safari and regional flights, complementing Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Established in 1929 as Nairobi West Aerodrome and later renamed in honour of aviation pioneer Florence Kerr Wilson, the airport is operated by the Kenya Airports Authority.
Located in Lang'ata, about 6 km south of Nairobi's city centre, Wilson is one of the busiest airports in East and Central Africa by aircraft movements. It connects travellers to safari destinations such as the Masai Mara and Amboseli, coastal towns including Diani, Malindi and Lamu, and regional routes across East Africa, with airlines such as Safarilink, AirKenya, Fly540 and Yellow Wings.
The airport has two runways and a compact single terminal serving scheduled flights, charter operations, private aviation, air ambulance services and cargo. Road access from central Nairobi is via Lang'ata Road, with taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers and car rental available.
Facilities include a café and restaurant, ATMs, parking, luggage storage and airline lounges, keeping the travel experience simple for the short-haul and safari passengers who use the airport.
