About Mvuu Camp Airport
Mvuu Camp Airport (VUU) is a small bush airstrip located inside Liwonde National Park in southern Malawi. It serves safari guests travelling to Mvuu Camp and Mvuu Lodge, which stand along the Shire River and are operated by Central African Wilderness Safaris.
The airstrip is a simple dirt landing strip without a conventional terminal. Flights are mainly charter services operated by safari aviation companies such as Ulendo Airlink, now known as FlyNyasa, using small aircraft suited to remote bush operations.
VUU lies roughly 27 km from the town of Liwonde. Guests commonly reach the lodges by game-viewing vehicle or boat from the airstrip, while road transfers from Blantyre take around three hours and from Lilongwe around four hours; charter flights from Blantyre or Lilongwe are also widely used.
Because the strip is exposed to weather, operations can be affected during the rainy season from November to April. Despite its simplicity, the airport provides a practical gateway to one of Malawi's leading wildlife areas, where visitors can see elephants, hippos, crocodiles and many bird species.
