Mount Vernon Outland Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Mount Vernon, Jefferson County and the wider southern Illinois region. Named after Earl Outland, a World War II veteran, the airport supports corporate, charter, cargo, recreational and flight-training activity rather than scheduled airline service.
Located about three miles east of Mount Vernon, MVN features a 6,500-foot by 150-foot main runway with an instrument landing system and is classified as a Part 139 airport with an ARFF Index A rating. A joint airport/city fire station and an Air Evac Lifeteam base are located on site.
