About Midtjyllands Airport
Midtjyllands Airport (KRP) is a combined civil and military airport in Central Jutland, located between Herning and Viborg near the town of Karup. It opened as Karup Airport in November 1965, when the first scheduled Copenhagen route began, and it has remained an important domestic gateway for the region.
The civilian terminal was inaugurated in 1991, and the airport was renamed Midtjyllands Airport in 2016 to reflect its role across Central Jutland. The airport shares its runways and airfield with Karup Air Base, while passenger services operate from a single compact terminal.
Today the airport offers daily flights to Copenhagen operated by Danish Air Transport, with a flight time of roughly 45 minutes, and also handles occasional charter traffic. Its central location makes it convenient for travellers heading to Herning, Viborg, Holstebro, Silkeborg and other parts of central and western Jutland.
The airport is reached by road, and passengers can continue by taxi, bookable flexbus services, pre-arranged transfers or rental car. Free parking is available at the terminal, which also provides a café, Wi-Fi and other basic passenger facilities.
