About Uberaba–Mário de Almeida Franco Airport
Uberaba–Mário de Almeida Franco Airport is the main airport serving Uberaba and the surrounding Triângulo Mineiro region in Minas Gerais. It links a city known worldwide as the capital of zebu cattle, and one of the state's largest agricultural producers, with São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.
The airport's origins date back to 1934, when Vasp began the first São Paulo–Uberaba route. The first passenger terminal opened in the 1950s, and in 2007 the airport was renamed in honour of Mário de Almeida Franco, a local cattle rancher and regional aviation pioneer who donated land for the facility.
Situated about 6 km from central Uberaba, the airport has a single passenger terminal of roughly 2,000 square metres and a 1,759-metre asphalt runway. Aena Brasil has managed the airport since November 2023, and the site operates 24 hours a day for landings and takeoffs.
Travelers can reach the city centre in about 10 to 15 minutes by taxi, ride-hailing service or rental car. The compact terminal keeps check-in, security, arrivals, parking and passenger services close together, making onward travel from the airport straightforward.
