The airport has a single asphalt runway and one compact passenger terminal. Scheduled flights currently connect Margate with Johannesburg, while general aviation and charter traffic also use the airfield.
Located about 4 km southwest of Margate's town centre, the airport is reached by road, and onward travel is typically by taxi, private transfer, chauffeur service or rental car; there is no direct rail link. A 2020 upgrade expanded the arrivals terminal, added a dedicated car-rental building and introduced controlled paid parking.
