About Albrook "Marcos A. Gelabert" International Airport

Marcos A. Gelabert International Airport is the main domestic and regional airport serving Panama City and the wider Panamá Province. It occupies part of the former Albrook Air Force Station, a military airfield first commissioned in 1932, and began civilian operations in January 1999 after domestic services moved from the former Paitilla airport.

The airport is named in honour of Panamanian aviator Marcos A. Gelabert, a pioneer of national aviation. Today it functions as the base for Air Panama and links the capital with destinations including Bocas del Toro, David, Changuinola, Chitré, Contadora Island, Pedasí and the San Blas Islands.

Located in the Albrook district about 1.5 kilometres west of central Panama City, the airport sits beside Albrook Mall and close to the Albrook Bus Terminal and the Albrook station of Panama Metro Line 1. Taxis, ride-sharing services, public buses and rental cars provide straightforward onward connections.

The single, compact terminal keeps check-in, security and arrivals close together, making it relatively easy to navigate. Passengers can use a café, snack bars, shops, ATMs and car rental desks, while the neighbouring mall and transport hub offer additional services before or after a flight.
