About Malabang Airport
Malabang Airport is a small community airport serving the coastal town of Malabang in Lanao del Sur, Philippines. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines classifies the facility as a community airport, and it is the only airport in the province. The airport has a single concrete runway aligned 06/24 and a compact terminal and apron area. It has no scheduled commercial flights, and in recent years the runway has mainly supported general aviation and local activities such as drying corn and copra. In January 2023, the airport was turned over by CAAP to the Bangsamoro government's Ministry of Transportation and Communications, through the Bangsamoro Airport Authority, as part of efforts to secure and potentially develop the site for future operations. Located about 3 km northwest of Malabang town centre, the airport sits near the coast of Illana Bay. Road access connects it to the town and onward to other parts of Lanao del Sur and the Bangsamoro region.
