Macomb Municipal Airport is a public general aviation airport serving the city of Macomb and the surrounding McDonough County area of west-central Illinois. It is owned and operated by the Macomb Airport Authority and is located about 3 miles (5 km) north of the city's central business district.
The airport was built in the 1960s and dedicated in 1969. It supports private, business, corporate, agricultural and recreational aviation rather than scheduled commercial passenger service, and has been recognized by the Illinois Department of Transportation as a General Aviation Publicly Owned Airport of the Year on multiple occasions.
MQB operates two runways: an asphalt runway 9/27 measuring 5,100 feet and a seasonal turf runway 18/36 measuring 3,719 feet. A fixed base operator on the field provides aviation fuel, aircraft parking and hangars, general maintenance, a passenger terminal and lounge, flight training, aircraft rental and courtesy transportation.
The airport's location near downtown Macomb and Western Illinois University makes it a convenient gateway for business and general aviation visitors traveling to the city and nearby communities, with onward connections by car, taxi and arranged ground transportation.
