Lusambo Airport (LBO)

Lusambo Airport is a small domestic airport serving Lusambo, the capital of Sankuru province in the central Democratic Republic of the Congo. The airfield lies roughly 6 km west of the town and runs parallel to the Sankuru River.

The airport has a single gravel runway, designated 12/30, and mainly handles domestic flights and general aviation. Air connections provide a useful link to this part of the country, where overland travel can be slow and road access limited.

From the airport, travellers usually continue into Lusambo by local taxi, motorcycle taxi or pre-arranged transport, while onward journeys to other parts of Sankuru province rely on local road and river routes. Larger towns such as Mbuji-Mayi and Kananga are among the nearest places with further air connections.

Passenger facilities are modest and suited to a small regional airport, so visitors should expect basic services rather than the range of amenities found at an international hub.
