About Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is the main international gateway to Puerto Rico and the busiest airport in the Caribbean. Located in the Isla Verde district of Carolina, it serves San Juan and the wider island, connecting travelers with major cities across the United States, Latin America and Europe.
Opened in 1955 as Isla Verde International Airport and renamed in 1985, the airport has grown into a two-terminal complex. Terminal A, opened in 2012, is used mainly by JetBlue, while the larger Terminal B connects to Concourses B, C and D and handles most other airlines as well as domestic and international flights.
The airport sits about 11 km (7 miles) from Old San Juan and around 5 km from the Condado area, with road access via Highway 26. Taxis, ride-shares, public buses, car rentals and private transfers connect it to San Juan's hotels, beaches and business districts, although there is no direct rail link.
Passengers can make use of dining, shopping, lounges, free Wi-Fi and other services across the terminal areas, and all concourses are linked by walkways so no shuttle is needed between gates.
