About Lewis University Airport

Lewis University Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Romeoville, Will County, and Chicago's southwest suburbs. Situated about 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, it supports corporate, charter, and flight training traffic and offers a convenient alternative to the region's larger commercial airports.

The airport is owned and operated by the Joliet Regional Port District, which assumed ownership in 1989, although the field traces its history to the 1930s, when it began as the Lewis Holy Name School of Aeronautics. It is named for and adjacent to Lewis University, whose aviation program remains closely tied to the airport.

The field features two runways, including a 6,500-foot primary runway that accommodates light and midsize business jets, plus a crosswind runway for added operational flexibility. A control tower opened in December 2022, and a single fixed-base operator provides fuel, hangars, and passenger and crew services.

Road access connects the airport to Romeoville, Joliet, Naperville, and the wider Chicago metropolitan area, with private transfers, chauffeur services, rental cars, and taxis available for onward travel. Its suburban location makes it a practical gateway for general aviation visitors to the southwest Chicago region.
