About Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava
Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava is the largest regional airport in the Czech Republic and the main international gateway for Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is located in Mošnov, about 20 km southwest of the Ostrava city centre and close to the borders with Poland and Slovakia.
The airport was renamed in 2006 after the Czech composer Leoš Janáček, the same year a new two-storey departure hall opened. The single passenger terminal has 13 check-in counters and capacity for around 500 departing and 500 arriving passengers per hour.
It serves scheduled European routes, seasonal charter flights and significant cargo operations. Ostrava Airport railway station sits next to the departure hall, with direct and regional bus services plus road access via the D1 motorway connecting the airport to Ostrava and the wider region.
