About Lawrenceville-Vincennes International Airport

Lawrenceville-Vincennes International Airport is a public-use general aviation airport in Lawrence County, Illinois. It serves the city of Lawrenceville and nearby Vincennes, Indiana, acting as a regional gateway for private, business, recreational and soaring flights across the Wabash Valley.

The field was established in 1942 as George Army Airfield, a United States Army Air Forces training base, and was later transferred to civil use after World War II. It is owned by the Bi-State Authority and supported by the cities of Lawrenceville and Vincennes.

The airport covers approximately 3,067 acres and operates two asphalt runways, 18/36 and 9/27, each just over 5,190 feet long, along with a turf runway used mainly for glider and ultralight activity. The on-site fixed-base operator, Mid-American Air Center, provides fuel, hangars, parking and pilot amenities including a lounge, snooze rooms, showers and weather briefing facilities.

Located about three nautical miles northeast of Lawrenceville and roughly 11 road miles from Vincennes, the airport is easily reached by local roads. Onward travel is typically arranged by private transfer, taxi, rental car or courtesy car, making the airport a practical entry point for both Illinois and Indiana communities in the region.
