About Laoag International Airport
Laoag International Airport is the main airport serving Laoag City and the province of Ilocos Norte in northern Luzon. It is the only airport in the province and the northernmost international airport in the Philippines, operating as a secondary or alternate international gateway under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
The airport traces its origins to Gabu Airfield, which was built by American forces before World War II and later converted into a civilian airport after the war. It now operates passenger services from a single terminal building and has a single runway measuring about 2,784 metres, with expanded terminal capacity for domestic and international travelers.
Located about 7 kilometres southwest of central Laoag, the airport is connected to the city by road. Travelers can continue by taxi, tricycle, jeepney, private transfer, chauffeur service or rental car to the city centre and other destinations around Ilocos Norte.
From Laoag, visitors can reach popular destinations such as Paoay Church and the Paoay sand dunes, the Bangui windmills and the coastal areas of Pagudpud, making the airport a practical entry point for exploring northern Luzon.
