Lampedusa Airport (LMP)

Lampedusa Airport is the main airport serving the island of Lampedusa, the largest of the Pelagian Islands and the southernmost territory of Italy. Located in the Province of Agrigento, Sicily, it connects the island with year-round flights to Palermo and Catania and with seasonal services to major mainland Italian cities.

The airport originated as a military airfield in the 1960s and received its first commercial flights in 1968 before being reclassified for civil use in the mid-1970s. A modern single-terminal passenger building was inaugurated in 2012, consolidating check-in, arrivals, departures and boarding into one compact facility.

Situated only about a kilometre from the town centre, the airport offers quick access to Lampedusa town and the island's beaches. Local buses, taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars connect the terminal with hotels and other destinations across the island, and the short distance makes walking an option for light travellers.

The terminal provides practical passenger services including a bar serving Sicilian specialities, shops with local products and souvenirs, vending machines, charging points, a first-aid post and nursery facilities, supporting a straightforward travel experience for seasonal holidaymakers and year-round island residents.
