Lakefront Airport is a public general aviation airport on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, about five miles northeast of downtown New Orleans. Opened in 1934 and originally built as the region's primary air hub, it is now known for its restored Art Deco terminal and its role serving private, business and charter aviation.
Located close to the French Quarter and the Central Business District, the airport provides a convenient alternative to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport for general aviation travelers. Its single terminal building combines historic architecture with modern fixed-base operator services, flight schools and business aviation facilities.
