About Kannur International Airport
Kannur International Airport is the main international airport serving Kannur and Kerala's North Malabar region. Opened on 9 December 2018, it is Kerala's fourth international airport and was developed as a greenfield airport under a public-private partnership model.
Located at Mattannur, about 28 km east of Kannur city, the airport serves domestic and international passengers travelling to and from Kannur, Thalassery, Payyanur, Kasargod, Wayanad and nearby parts of Karnataka such as Coorg. Its single integrated passenger terminal covers around 97,000 square metres and handles both domestic and international flights.
The airport is connected to Kannur and surrounding towns by road, with KSRTC and private bus services, prepaid taxis, app-based cabs and private transfers available from the terminal. Kannur railway station is about 28 km away.
Passenger facilities include duty-free and retail shops, food and beverage outlets, lounges, currency exchange, a day hotel, medical services, baby care rooms, a prayer room and parking.
