Kankan Airport (KNN)

Kankan Airport serves Kankan, the capital of the Kankan Region and one of Guinea's main cities in the east of the country. The airport is located near the village of Diankana, a short distance northeast of the city centre, and provides a regional air link between eastern Guinea and the rest of the country.

The current airport replaced an older airfield that was located inside the city, where the former runway is now used as a street. The Diankana site has a single runway, and a reconstruction programme launched in 2023 includes a new passenger terminal, a control tower and runway upgrades.

Kankan lies roughly 555 km east of Conakry on the Milo River, and the airport is about 7 km northeast of the city centre. Road transport is the main way to continue into Kankan and nearby towns, with taxis and private vehicles available at the terminal.

With its modest size and regional role, the airport supports domestic travel and access to the wider Upper Guinea area. Passengers should plan for limited facilities and confirm flight schedules in advance.
