About Joliet Regional Airport
Joliet Regional Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Joliet, Will County and the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Located about four miles west of downtown Joliet and roughly 37 miles southwest of central Chicago, it supports private, corporate and recreational flying rather than scheduled airline service.
The airport opened in April 1930 as Joliet Municipal Airport and has a long history in the region, including a hangar building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it is owned and operated by the Joliet Park District and remains an active hub for general aviation traffic.
The facility has two runways, an asphalt runway and a turf runway, along with hangars, tiedowns, fuel services and a small terminal building with a pilot lounge. The Joliet Park District FBO provides fuel and ground support for visiting and based aircraft.
With direct road access and a location close to Joliet, major highways and the greater Chicago area, the airport offers a practical gateway for private pilots and business travelers arriving in the region.
