Aviation in Pelotas dates back to the late 1920s, and a small passenger station was built in 1935. The airport was later modernized, officially renamed Pelotas International Airport – João Simões Lopes Neto in 2015, and received a new expanded passenger terminal in November 2024 under the management of CCR Aeroportos.
Located in the Três Vendas district, about 8 km from central Pelotas, the airport is reached by taxi, municipal bus and car rental, with the closest bus stop around 300 metres from the terminal entrance.
