About Jeypore Airport
Jeypore Airport is a domestic airport serving Jeypore and the surrounding Koraput district in southwestern Odisha. Built in 1962 alongside the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited factory at Sunabeda, it originally supported regional and government air traffic before commercial services developed.
Vayudoot operated daily services linking the area with Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam during the 1980s. After commercial operations paused in the 1990s, the airport remained in use for government, medical and emergency flights until upgrades resumed under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme.
Commercial flights returned on 31 October 2022, when IndiaOne Air launched nine-seater services to Bhubaneswar. The airport is managed by the Airports Authority of India and has a single asphalt runway of about 1,200 metres, along with a compact passenger terminal.
Located roughly 3 km from Jeypore town centre and around 20 km from Koraput, the airport is reached mainly by taxi and auto-rickshaw. Jeypore Railway Station is about 15 minutes away by road, making the airport a practical gateway for travellers exploring southern Odisha.
