Il Caravaggio International Airport, commonly known as Milan Bergamo Airport, is one of the main international airports serving Bergamo, Milan and the wider Lombardy region. Opened in the early 1970s, it has grown into Italy's third-busiest airport and is a major base for low-cost and scheduled carriers.
The airport is located in Orio al Serio, about 5 km southeast of Bergamo city centre and roughly 45 km northeast of Milan. It operates a single passenger terminal with two gate zones: Zone A for Schengen and domestic flights, and Zone B for non-Schengen departures and arrivals.
Buses and airport shuttles connect the terminal with Bergamo in around 15 minutes and Milan in roughly 50–70 minutes, while taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars offer further onward travel options. A new rail connection is also planned to improve access to the airport.
The terminal provides check-in counters and self-service kiosks, security screening, shops, restaurants, cafés, lounges, free Wi-Fi, charging points and accessibility services, making it a practical gateway for leisure and business travelers across northern Italy.
