Houma-Terrebonne Airport is the public general aviation airport serving Houma and Terrebonne Parish in southern Louisiana. It supports private, charter, corporate and helicopter traffic tied to the region's energy, maritime and industrial activity along the Gulf Coast.
The site began as Naval Air Station Houma, established in 1943 as a base for lighter-than-air airships. After the Navy disestablished the base in 1947, the property was developed into today's civilian airport and industrial park.
Located about three miles (5 km) southeast of central Houma, the airport has two concrete runways, including a main runway with a full instrument landing system. Two fixed-base operators provide fuel, maintenance, hangars, pilot lounges and passenger support.
The airport offers customs landing rights for international flights and is roughly 50 to 60 miles southwest of New Orleans, with road access and rental cars making onward travel around the bayou region straightforward.
