About Hola Airport
Hola Airport (HOA) is a small regional airport serving Hola town and Tana River County in southeastern Kenya. Also known as Galole Airport, it supports charter, government and humanitarian flights that connect this remote area to larger transport hubs.
The airport sits near the Tana River, a short distance from Hola town centre, and is operated by the Kenya Airports Authority. It has a single unpaved runway (18/36) of about 900 metres and one compact passenger terminal, reflecting the modest scale of regional aviation in the area.
Ground transport is limited, so travelers usually rely on locally arranged taxis or pre-booked pick-ups to reach Hola town and nearby destinations. The airfield is used mainly during daylight hours and serves as an important access point for agricultural, development and emergency travel, especially when road conditions are poor.
Although scheduled commercial airline service is not currently active, Hola Airport remains a practical gateway for regional flights and charter operations across Tana River County.
