Hohenems-Dornbirn Airfield (HOH)

Hohenems-Dornbirn Airfield is a public general aviation aerodrome serving the Vorarlberg region of western Austria. It lies in the Hohenems municipality, about 5 km southwest of Dornbirn, and is the only airfield in Vorarlberg apart from a small number of heliports.

The airfield operates a single asphalt runway of roughly 630 metres, with a main building completed in 2005 that houses the flight control centre, air police facilities and a restaurant. Flying at the site began in 1949, when the Sportfluggruppe Hohenems established a field on the Seemähder area; later work added a hangar, handling building and fuel station, and the site became the regional landing field operated by the Aero Club Vorarlberg.

It is used for gliding, powered flying, helicopters, ultralights, skydiving, flight training and scenic flights. An air police flight operations unit has been stationed here since December 1968, and the airfield also has a history of air rescue cooperation until 2000. The short-lived airline Rheintalflug was founded at Hohenems-Dornbirn in 1973 before later moving to St. Gallen-Altenrhein.

The airfield is reached by road via Schollenstrasse and the nearby L190 Vorarlberger Straße, and Landbus lines 22 and 23 stop within walking distance. Hohenems is about 4 km away and central Dornbirn about 5–6 km, making taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars practical for continuing to Bregenz, Feldkirch, Lake Constance and the wider Rhine Valley.
