About Vienna International Airport
Vienna International Airport is Austria's largest airport and the main international gateway for Vienna and the wider eastern Austria region. Located in Schwechat, about 18 km southeast of central Vienna, it serves both leisure and business travelers and acts as the home hub of Austrian Airlines.
The airport opened in 1954 and has grown into a modern complex with check-in areas in Terminal 1, Terminal 1A and Terminal 3. Terminal 3, which opened in 2012, is known as the Austrian Star Alliance Terminal and handles Austrian Airlines and many Star Alliance flights, with Schengen and non-Schengen gates spread across several concourses.
Vienna is connected to the airport by the City Airport Train to Wien Mitte, the S-Bahn S7, regional and long-distance rail services, buses, taxis, private transfers and the A4 motorway, making the city centre reachable in roughly 16 to 30 minutes by public transport or road.
With shopping, dining, lounges and onward travel options in a compact layout, the airport is designed for convenient transfers and straightforward access to Vienna and nearby destinations.

Vienna Airport operates passenger flights through a connected terminal complex with check-in areas in Terminal 1, Terminal 1A and Terminal 3. Terminal 3, known as the Austrian Star Alliance Terminal, is used by Austrian Airlines and many Star Alliance partners, while Terminal 1 serves a mix of other international and low-cost carriers. Schengen gates are located in Concourses B, C and F, and non-Schengen gates in Concourses D and G.
