About Halwara International Airport
Halwara International Airport is the civil aviation gateway serving Ludhiana, one of Punjab's most important industrial and commercial cities. The civil enclave at the Indian Air Force Station in Halwara was inaugurated in February 2026 and was developed by the Airports Authority of India together with the Punjab Government.
The airport has a single passenger terminal of about 2,000 square metres with a peak-hour capacity of roughly 300 passengers. Its runway can accommodate A320-type aircraft, and the facility supports regional connectivity, with Air India operating flights to Delhi as the first scheduled carrier.
The airport is located around 28 km from Ludhiana city centre and is reached primarily by road. Pre-paid taxi services are available at the terminal, and the site is accessible from regional road links for onward travel to Ludhiana and the surrounding industrial and commercial areas.
Passengers can use basic terminal facilities including free Wi-Fi, dining options, baggage services, special assistance, first aid and parking. As a new civil terminal, Halwara gives Ludhiana and nearby districts a direct air link and improved access to domestic and onward international connections.
