Grantsburg Municipal Airport (GTG)

Grantsburg Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving the village of Grantsburg and the surrounding Burnett County area of northwestern Wisconsin. Opened in 1946, it is owned by the Village of Grantsburg and provides a local airfield for private pilots, business aircraft, and visitors to the region.

The airport sits about two miles northeast of Grantsburg's central business district, near the Minnesota border and the St. Croix River. It operates two runways: an asphalt runway designated 12/30 and a turf runway designated 5/23, the latter closed during winter from November 1 to April 15. The field has no control tower and is typically unattended, with pilots using a common traffic advisory frequency.

As a small general aviation facility, passenger services are limited. The airfield offers aircraft tiedown parking and a small terminal/administration building, with additional services available in Grantsburg and nearby communities such as Siren, Webster, and St. Croix Falls. The area is known for outdoor recreation, including Crex Meadows Wildlife Area and access to the St. Croix River.

Road access is straightforward, with Grantsburg only a few minutes away by car and regional highways connecting to larger destinations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. For most travelers, the airport functions as a convenient rural entry point for private and general aviation rather than scheduled commercial travel.
