Located about 2 km southeast of the town, it primarily supports private, charter and helicopter flights rather than scheduled commercial passenger services. Fria is known for its bauxite and alumina industry, and the airfield has long been linked to the town's industrial and logistical activity. Passenger facilities are minimal, and the site currently has no fuel supply, runway lighting, air traffic control or security screening.
