Francisco Carle Airport serves Jauja and the central highlands of Peru, including the Mantaro Valley and the city of Huancayo. It is the main commercial airport serving the Junín region, connecting the area with Lima through regular domestic flights operated by LATAM Perú and Sky Airline Peru.
The airport is named after Father Francisco Carlé, a parish priest of Santa Fe de Jauja who promoted its construction. It was inaugurated in the late 1940s and has since served as an important link between Lima and Peru's central sierra.
Located approximately 3 km south of Jauja and about 50 km from Huancayo, the airport has a single asphalt runway of 2,870 metres and a compact single-story passenger terminal. Its high elevation of 3,363 metres makes it one of Peru's notable high-altitude airports.
The airport is reached by road from Jauja and the wider Mantaro Valley, with taxis, private transfers and buses connecting travelers to Huancayo, Tarma, La Oroya and nearby towns. Despite its small terminal, it provides an essential gateway for business and leisure travelers heading to the central Andes.
