About Esbjerg Airport
Esbjerg Airport serves the city of Esbjerg and the wider South-West Jutland region on Denmark's west coast. Opened in 1971, it combines scheduled passenger flights with a large offshore helicopter operation and is Denmark's largest heliport for North Sea oil, gas and wind-industry traffic.
The airport lies around 10 km northeast of central Esbjerg, about 15–20 minutes away by car or taxi. It has one compact passenger terminal for domestic and international services, with a separate larger helicopter terminal beside it used mainly for offshore crew transport.
Scheduled services include flights to and from Aberdeen in Scotland, supporting both energy-sector and leisure travel, and the airport is a practical gateway to the Wadden Sea coast, Ribe and the island of Fanø. Buses, taxis, private transfers and car rental provide onward travel from the terminal.
