About Ercan International Airport
Ercan International Airport is the principal civilian airport serving Nicosia and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Named after Major Fehmi Ercan, it opened to civil air traffic in 1975 and remains the region's main air gateway.
The airport was renovated to international standards and reopened in 2004, and in July 2023 a much larger new terminal and 3,100-metre runway were inaugurated. The modern terminal building handles arrivals and departures, with direct scheduled flights primarily connecting Northern Cyprus to destinations in Türkiye.
Located near Kırklar, approximately 23 km east of central Nicosia, the airport provides access to Lefkoşa, Kyrenia and Famagusta. Buses, taxis, private transfers and car rental options connect the terminal with the city centre and surrounding coastal areas.
Inside, the terminal provides free Wi-Fi, restaurants, cafés, duty-free shopping, currency exchange offices, bank ATMs and a 24-hour first aid point, with accessibility features for passengers with reduced mobility.
