About Door County Cherryland Airport

Door County Cherryland Airport is the main public-use airport serving Sturgeon Bay and the surrounding Door County peninsula of Wisconsin. Opened in 1940 and owned by Door County, it primarily supports general aviation, corporate, charter and air taxi traffic rather than scheduled commercial airline service.

Located about 2 miles west of central Sturgeon Bay, the airport provides convenient access to the city and to Door County's lakeside towns and resort areas, including Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Sister Bay and Washington Island. Its single terminal building houses the Tailwind Flight Center FBO, Avis car rental and scenic air tour operators, along with county airport staff.

The airfield has two asphalt runways: the primary Runway 2/20 at 4,599 feet and the crosswind Runway 10/28 at 3,199 feet, with GPS instrument approaches available. These facilities support corporate jets, small passenger aircraft and charter services, making the airport a practical gateway for private and business travel.

Ground transportation from the airport is simple by car, with Avis rental available in the terminal and road access to Sturgeon Bay in about five to ten minutes, while taxis and prearranged transfers can serve onward journeys across the peninsula.
