Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport is the main airport serving Indore and the surrounding Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Named after the 18th-century Holkar queen, it is the busiest airport in the state and an important gateway for domestic travel across India.
The airport began air services in 1948 and was upgraded to international status in 2019. Its current integrated terminal building, inaugurated in 2012, concentrates check-in, security, arrivals and passenger facilities in one building designed for smooth movement through the airport.
