About Del Norte International Airport
Del Norte International Airport is a secondary airport serving Monterrey and the wider Nuevo León metropolitan area. Opened in 1942 and established with American Airlines' involvement in the 1940s, it was Monterrey's main airport until commercial traffic moved to General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in 1970.
Located in Apodaca, about 25 km north of central Monterrey, the airport is now focused primarily on general aviation, private flights, pilot training, charter services and military operations. It has two runways, a control tower, a compact passenger terminal and around 123 hangars, with customs and immigration available for international flights.
The airport is reached by road from Monterrey via the route toward Laredo, and connects travellers to the city centre, San Pedro Garza García and nearby industrial and business areas by taxi, private transfer, chauffeur service or rental car.
