Debrecen International Airport (DEB)

Debrecen International Airport is the second-largest and busiest airport in Hungary and the most important gateway to the country's eastern region. It serves the city of Debrecen and the wider Hajdú-Bihar County, with connections to destinations across Europe. The airport's history goes back to the early 20th century, with the first official mail flight taking off in 1930; it later served military purposes before reopening to international passenger traffic in 2001.

Located about 5 km south-southwest of central Debrecen, the airport operates from a single passenger terminal that handles check-in, security, departures, arrivals and baggage claim. The compact layout makes it a convenient entry point for both leisure and business travellers visiting eastern Hungary, the Great Plain and areas near the Romanian and Ukrainian borders.

The airport is connected to the city by the Airport Debrecen bus line (Airport 1-2), taxis, car rental services and road links, with the city centre typically reachable in about 10-15 minutes by car. The main railway station, Nagyállomás, provides onward rail connections to Budapest and other Hungarian cities.
