About Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is Hungary's main international airport and the primary gateway to Budapest and the surrounding region. Opened as Ferihegy in 1950 and renamed in 2011, it now handles scheduled passenger traffic through a single terminal complex located about 16 km southeast of the city centre.

The passenger terminal, Terminal 2, is divided into two connected piers: 2A for Schengen flights and 2B for non-Schengen flights, joined by the SkyCourt building that opened in 2011 and contains central security, shops, restaurants and lounges. The former Terminal 1 closed to scheduled passenger flights in 2012.

The airport is connected to central Budapest by the 100E Airport Express bus, public bus services, taxis, private transfers and rental cars, with road access to the wider city and region. Journey times to the centre typically range from about 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic and the chosen mode of transport.

With modern passenger facilities, dining, shopping, lounges and onward travel options, the airport serves as a key hub for domestic and international travel and a convenient gateway for visitors arriving in Budapest and the wider Danube region.
