About Curuzú Cuatiá Airport
Curuzú Cuatiá Airport, officially named General Manuel Belgrano, is a public airport serving Curuzú Cuatiá in the south of Corrientes Province, Argentina. It was built during the 1970s and once hosted weekly flights to Buenos Aires operated by Austral and Aerolíneas Argentinas, making it one of the most important air facilities in the provincial south.
Located approximately 7 km east of the city centre, the airport has a single asphalt runway (01/19) that originally measured 2,121 metres. It has been closed since 2009, and all activity ceased by 2012; only about 1,000 metres of runway remain operational, the beacon system has been removed, and the weather station was transferred to the Del Iberá airport in Mercedes.
Because the airport no longer receives scheduled flights, Curuzú Cuatiá is mainly reached by road. Regional airports such as Mercedes Airport, about 72 km away, and Uruguaiana's Rubem Berta Airport, about 98 km away, serve as the nearest alternatives for air travel.
The terminal building is closed and no longer offers passenger services. Travelers planning to visit Curuzú Cuatiá should arrange road transportation in advance and use nearby regional airports for air connections.
