Villa Reynolds Airport (VME)

Villa Reynolds Airport is a joint military and general aviation airport serving Villa Mercedes and the central San Luis Province region of Argentina. The airfield combines civilian general aviation activity with the adjacent V Air Brigade of the Argentine Air Force, known as the 'Cradle of Falcons'.

Aviation activity around Villa Reynolds dates to the mid-1930s, and in 1938 a military air base was established at Villa Mercedes. In 1949 the base was formally converted into the V Air Brigade, which has remained closely linked to the airport ever since. Today the facility is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 and mainly handles general aviation, business and military flights rather than regular scheduled commercial services.

The airport lies about 9 km southeast of Villa Mercedes city centre, in the village of Villa Reynolds. It is reached via Provincial Route 24, which connects with the Serranías Puntanas motorway, the former Route 7. The airfield has asphalt runways and a compact passenger terminal offering a bar, café and restaurant, free parking and navigation aids such as VOR-DME and an NDB.

With no regular commercial passenger operations at present, most travelers arrive on private or military flights and continue to Villa Mercedes by taxi or pre-arranged transfer. Hotels and other services are available in Villa Mercedes rather than at the airport itself.
