Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport is the main airport serving Huaraz and the surrounding Ancash region of Peru. After runway and terminal improvements, the airport reopened to scheduled commercial flights in July 2024, with LATAM Airlines operating the route to Lima. The airport operates a single passenger terminal and a single asphalt runway of about 3,050 metres.
Located in the district of Anta, roughly 23 km north of central Huaraz, the airport functions primarily as a domestic gateway. It connects travelers from Lima to Huaraz and the nearby Cordillera Blanca, a key base for trekking and mountaineering, as well as Huascarán National Park.
Road access links the airport to Huaraz in around 30 to 40 minutes under normal conditions. Travelers can continue by taxi, shuttle bus, private transfer, chauffeur service or rental car to the city centre and to towns along the Callejón de Huaylas.
The terminal provides basic passenger facilities including a café, a market in the public hall and a VIP lounge, making it a practical entry point for visitors heading into the high Andes.
