About Choibalsan Airport
Choibalsan Airport is the main airport serving Choibalsan, the capital of Dornod Province in eastern Mongolia, and provides a key air link for the country's far east. The airport handles domestic connections and a regional international route, supporting travel for residents, businesses and visitors in the region.
A new passenger terminal was completed in 2001, and the airport features a 2,600-metre concrete runway capable of handling Boeing 737-class aircraft. It is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia and sits at an elevation of 749 metres.
Located roughly 10 km northeast of central Choibalsan, the airport is reached mainly by taxi, private transfer or private car. The town also has a rail link toward the Russian border to the north, providing an additional regional connection.
Hunnu Air links Choibalsan with Ulaanbaatar and Hailar in China, making the airport an important point of access for eastern Mongolia and cross-border travel to neighbouring regions.
