About Chitrakoot Airport
Chitrakoot Airport is a small domestic airport serving Chitrakoot, a pilgrimage town in Uttar Pradesh, and the surrounding region. It is located at Dewangna in Chitrakoot district, approximately 12 km from the city centre.
The airport was developed from an existing state-owned airstrip operated by the Civil Aviation Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. After a 2019 decision to expand the airstrip and build a passenger terminal, a pre-fabricated terminal of about 525 square metres was added to accommodate domestic travellers.
In October 2020, an operator was selected under the UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme for proposed flights to Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi. Scheduled commercial operations have since remained limited, and the terminal is currently handled mainly for private operations.
For travellers, the airport offers a small terminal with basic passenger facilities and road connections to Chitrakoot city, nearby religious sites and onward destinations in Uttar Pradesh.
