About Chippewa Valley Regional Airport
Chippewa Valley Regional Airport is a public-use commercial and general aviation airport serving Eau Claire and the surrounding Chippewa Valley region of western Wisconsin. It functions as the area's main air gateway and is the largest airport in a 20-county area of the region.
The site was first acquired in 1923, and the airport officially opened in 1947 with the arrival of a Northwest Airlines DC-3. Today it spans more than 1,100 acres with two runways, a single passenger terminal, and a control tower that was added in 2006.
Located about 3.5 miles north of downtown Eau Claire, the airport is easy to reach by car, taxi, and rental vehicle. Free short-term parking and rental car desks are available on site, and the compact terminal keeps walking distances short.
Travelers can use scheduled United Express service to Chicago O'Hare and seasonal Sun Country flights, while the airport also supports general aviation, corporate aviation, and Mayo Clinic air ambulance operations. Inside the terminal, Hangar 54 Grill and basic passenger amenities serve both arriving and departing travelers.
