The passenger terminal was renovated and expanded as part of Uruguay's National System of International Airports, with the modernized facility inaugurated in October 2024 after a US$12 million investment led by Aeropuertos Uruguay. The project upgraded the existing terminal building and aeronautical infrastructure, including the runway area, taxiway and apron, to bring operations in line with international standards.
The terminal is organized into interconnected volumes that separate public passenger areas from technical and operational zones, improving circulation, accessibility and energy performance within a single, easy-to-navigate building.
