Catania–Fontanarossa Airport is the main international airport serving Catania and the wider eastern Sicily region. Named after the composer Vincenzo Bellini, it acts as a gateway for both domestic and international flights and is one of the busiest airports in southern Italy.
The current main passenger terminal, Terminal A, opened in 2007 and houses arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor. A smaller Terminal C opened in 2018 and is used primarily for Schengen departures by easyJet and Wizz Air, giving the airport additional capacity during peak travel periods.
Located about 5 km southwest of central Catania, the airport is one of the closest airports to an Italian city centre. It is connected by the AMT Alibus service, taxis, private transfers, car rental and intercity bus links, making onward travel to Catania, Taormina, Syracuse, Noto and Mount Etna straightforward.
