La Unión Airport, also known as Carta Airport, is a small public airfield serving the town of La Unión in Olancho Department, Honduras. It functions mainly as a rural aviation link for the mountainous interior, supporting private charters, air taxis and humanitarian mission flights rather than regularly scheduled commercial services.
The airfield has a single grass runway measuring about 900 metres, with high terrain west through northeast and a hill immediately north of the strip. Its basic infrastructure reflects its role as a functional rural outpost: there is no formal terminal building, and passenger facilities are minimal.
Located roughly 2 kilometres northeast of La Unión, the airport is usually reached in under ten minutes by mototaxi or private pickup. The road journey into the surrounding highlands can be slow, so the airstrip provides a valuable shortcut for medical brigades, supply flights and visitors to isolated communities.
