Car Nicobar Air Force Base is the airfield serving Car Nicobar, the northernmost island of the Nicobar group in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Operated by the Indian Air Force, it supports military operations and limited civil flights that connect the island with Port Blair.
The airstrip dates back to the Second World War era and was brought into operation by the Indian Air Force in 1956 as a staging post for aircraft crossing the Bay of Bengal. The station was badly damaged by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami but resumed operations within a few months, and a modernised runway was inaugurated in early 2026.
The airfield lies near the southern part of Car Nicobar, a short drive from Malacca, the largest settlement and administrative centre of Nicobar district. Road links connect the base to island villages, while Port Blair is roughly 250 km to the north and is reached by air or ship.
