Canouan Airport (CIW)

Canouan Airport is the main air gateway to the island of Canouan, one of the Grenadine islands in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The airport serves the island's luxury resorts, marina and the small settlement of Charlestown, and handles regional scheduled flights, charters and private jets.

The modern airport opened in May 2008, replacing an earlier airstrip whose history dates back to the early 1980s. A land reclamation project and runway extension completed in late March 2008 increased the runway from 3,455 to 5,875 ft, allowing larger aircraft to operate to and from the island.

Canouan Airport has a single asphalt runway and one compact passenger terminal with immigration and customs facilities for international arrivals. It functions as a port of entry for visitors arriving by air from Barbados, Saint Vincent, Grenada and other regional destinations.

Located on the southwestern side of the island, the airport is a short drive from Charlestown and nearby resorts, with hotels, taxis and private transfers providing onward connections. Its facilities are modest but sufficient for the island's boutique, resort-focused travel.
